It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
